Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 September 2026

This policy describes the current Jubiday mobile app and the Jubiday website. The app is account-free and keeps celebration records on the device. Optional online celebrity lookup is used only after a clear disclosure and your permission for that request.

Jubiday is primarily offline and account-free

Jubiday provides birthday, anniversary, event and reminder features without an account. Names, dates, relationships, notes, contact references, planned events and preferences are stored on your device. Jubiday does not upload your calendar or run advertising, analytics, cloud recovery or automatic background lookups.

Greeting messages use local templates, and spoken dates and names are parsed by local app code. Jubiday does not integrate a third-party cloud AI service or send personal data for AI processing or AI training. The only optional online app feature is the consented Wikimedia celebrity lookup described below.

Optional online celebrity lookup

Jubiday includes an offline celebrity catalogue. If you choose an online lookup, the app first shows a caution explaining the request and asks for your permission. Cancel or dismissal sends nothing, and you can continue using the offline catalogue.

For a “today” or selected-date lookup, the app sends only the month and day to the Wikimedia API at api.wikimedia.org. For a typed-name lookup, it sends only the celebrity name you entered, limited to 80 characters, to the Wikidata Query Service at query.wikidata.org. These services are operated for the Wikimedia projects. Jubiday does not add your contacts, calendar records, notes, audio, transcript, backup, advertising identifier or precise location to either request.

Like an ordinary internet request, Wikimedia and network providers can receive your IP address, request time and standard connection information. Their handling of that information is governed by the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy. Results are used to display public celebrity information for the lookup you requested. Jubiday does not use these requests for advertising or profiling, and a failed request falls back to the bundled catalogue.

Contacts

Only when you choose contact import or enable suggestions, Jubiday shows a disclosure and requests access to contact names and saved date fields. It uses these on your device to add birthdays or suggest entries. Contact lists are not uploaded.

Review & Repair Contact Birthdays compares only linked entries with accessible phone contacts after your permission. It previews date and related reminder corrections; only selected changes are saved after confirmation. Phone contacts are never edited.

Microphone and voice

Voice entry shows a disclosure identifying the local processor and spoken data before requesting microphone access. On iPhone and iPad, Apple's Speech framework processes microphone audio on the device. On supported Android devices, the installed on-device speech recognizer does so. Audio can contain names, dates and anything else you say.

Neither audio nor transcripts are sent to Jubiday, Apple servers or another cloud or AI service by this feature. No audio file is retained. Transcripts are shown for review, and selected celebration fields are stored locally only after you choose Save.

There is no cloud fallback. If your device or chosen language cannot support offline recognition, type instead. Cancel does not start listening. Browser voice entry is disabled. Keyboard dictation supplied by your keyboard app is governed by that provider's settings and privacy policy.

Reminders and biometrics

Reminders are scheduled locally with the operating system, without push tokens or a remote push service. Reminder text may be visible on your lock screen or connected devices according to your phone settings. Local reminders require an explicit opt-in. Hide Notification Names is enabled by default for new settings.

Biometric unlocking uses the operating system; Jubiday never receives or stores fingerprints or facial templates. When enabled, app lock re-locks after backgrounding and requests operating-system screen-capture and app-switcher protection. The browser preview does not offer this biometric lock.

External links and sharing

Jubiday does not open external websites or pass information to another app without an action-specific caution and your affirmative choice. Cancel, Back or dismissal does not approve the action. Store, website, gift and legal links can disclose your IP address, browser or device details, and that service's existing cookies or account information. No calendar records are attached to these links. The destination's privacy policy applies.

Greeting sharing includes the displayed recipient or couple names, sender name, greeting and Jubiday link. Planned-event sharing includes the title, date and selected attendees' names. A pop-up previews the message before opening your selected app or service. Facebook or X may receive the message in the sharing-page URL before you publish it. A system share service may preview or process the content, so choose recipients carefully. No alternative app is opened automatically if an action fails.

The install QR is generated locally and contains only the public Jubiday download URL, without personal records or identifiers. Scanning it with another device opens that website under the scanner or browser's controls and creates a normal website visit.

Local storage and backups

Native calendar storage uses SQLCipher encryption with a key held by your device's secure storage. The web preview uses browser local storage and does not have the same database encryption. Jubiday has no app-managed cloud backup. Release backup exclusions are configured to reduce operating-system copying of app files, although device manufacturers and users may separately copy data.

Exported .jubiday backups are not encrypted. Before export or sharing, an explicit caution explains that the file contains personal records and preferences. Anyone holding the file can read it. A chosen cloud drive, email app, browser sync service or recipient may store it outside your device, so select a private local destination.

Imports show a caution before opening a file provider, and only the chosen local file is read. Remote document URLs are blocked. Backups are limited to 5 MB and checked for valid fields and accidental corruption before an atomic restore; a checksum is not proof of origin. Import preserves the current app lock, alert-name privacy, reminder consent and quiet period. Temporary native export files are removed after the share sheet finishes.

This website

Messages you send us: the name, email address and message submitted through the contact form on this website are stored so we can reply.

Website sign-in: sign-in on www.jubiday.com is limited to the Jubiday webmaster account that runs the site. Public registration is switched off and visitors are never asked to create an account.

Basic technical data: standard request and diagnostic information needed to serve and secure this website.

Server logs: ordinary security logs for this website may record an IP address, the time and the requested URL. These logs are kept for the shortest practical period needed for security and abuse prevention and are not used for advertising or profiling.

No sale, advertising or analytics

Jubiday does not sell personal data and contains no advertising or analytics SDK in this release. Prior releases with advertising had different data practices; this policy does not retroactively describe those versions. Information submitted through this website is used only to answer support messages and operate and secure the website.

How your data is protected

Native calendar storage uses the protection described above, together with your device's lock screen and app sandbox. Traffic between this website and its backend uses encrypted connections. Webmaster sign-in is required for administrative views, and access controls restrict stored website records. Administrative keys remain on the server.

These are the controls we actually operate. No internet service can claim to be perfectly or completely secure, so we describe our safeguards rather than promising absolute security.

Retention and deletion

Records remain until you delete entries, use Delete All Data in Settings, clear app storage or uninstall. Delete All Data also removes locally cached public records and cancels scheduled Jubiday reminders. See the data deletion instructions for more detail. Copies already exported or shared, system backups and information held by external services must be removed separately through those services. No Jubiday app account needs to be deleted. Contact-form messages are kept while we handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards.

Children

Jubiday is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children who require parental consent under local law.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and revise the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or on this website.
